When purchasing a new puppy whether it be a Pit bull English Bulldog or any other breed for
that matter you will only get out what you put in. You can expect for you new puppy to live on
average 8 to 13 years and unless you are willing to make that commitment to giving your dog
exercise, discipline and affection(AND IN THAT ORDER) everyday of their life than maybe
another pet would be a better fit for you and your family. Here are a few small tips you can
remember to help you raise a perfect happy, healthy, calm-submissive dog for you and your
family to enjoy.
1. We must always relate to as Animal first then Dog then breed then finally personality.
2. We make it complicated by not allowing them to be who they are.
3. Animals live in the present "ALL THE TIME"
4. As their ancestors the Wolves live in packs your Dog has the need to be part of a pack as well.
5. "You" the leader of the pack determines and enforces rules and boundaries.
6. Some animals are not born to be followers but their instincts to run in a smooth pack, is
stronger than their instinct for being the only leader.
7. Submissive- is merely the energy and the state of mind of a follower.
8. Dogs need leadership from the day their born till the day they die.
9. Like children dogs need rules.
10. We mistake their position in our hearts for the position in the pack.
11. When we humanize dogs we create issues. Issues- are negative adaptations in dealing with
problems.
12. Feeling sorry for a dog is not doing any favors.
13. Never choose a dog with higher energy levels than your own.
14. Animals communicate using energy.
15. Animals see you through your energy.
16. There is no problem breed just problem owners.
17. All dogs carry the same psychology. The breed is just the outfit and sometimes a set of special
needs he or she might have.
18. There are 2.7 million animals put to death in animal shelters every year. I do not want one of
my dogs being part of these statistics.
19. The thoughts we have about animals become energy. Energy dogs pick up.
20. And last but not least I'll say again the formula for a balanced dog is EXERCISE,
DISCIPLINE AND AFFECTION. In this order and you will enjoy your new puppy for many,
many years.
Many of these excerpts are from a great book Cesar's Way. This book is very informative on ways
to have a balanced calm-submissive dog. This is one book you will not be able to put down and
can make many references back to in case problems ever arise in your dog.
